Last 10 years: Basically, my father passed away (cancer) when I was about 21. Let's start there.  Years 17 to 20 are a blur.  My father and I - We were extremely close and I decided to "spread my wings" after he passed.  I pointed at a map (literally) with my eyes closed and picked my new state to call "home".  It so happened to be GA.  Being so far away from home, I asked my best friend to come with me.  My best friend was a male...  and well, long story short, I am divorced with the cutest little boy ever and a ruined friendship.  Life goes on... (I did go to business college while I was there, however).
I met my husband, Mark, in Georgia, moved back to Indiana, and recently got remarried.  In August of 2006 I bought my first house.  I still live there, although I manage apartments, and am one of the crazy people that would rather pay rent and have all my things fixed for free than have a $900 house payment and lots of repairs to make myself... oh and did I mention yard work?  So anyways, I was never really close to God.  I have been going to church faithfully every Sunday and Wednesday and volunteering for various things since August of 2006 as well.  I was mad at God for a long time when my dad passed, but learned that God gives and takes.  I have suffered through many losses of family members in the past 4 years but it has made me a stronger person.  I remember high school.  I remember me not getting to know people very well and always trying to be so tough.  I am a completely different person now and I thank my son for that.  It is one thing to be "tough" but it is a whole other thing to be STRONG.  One last thing...    For the past 10 years I have often wondered about SO many people from school.  I happened to live with much regret with either how I treated people or how I never fixed friendships gone "bad".  So, if you remember me and you are reading this, it might just be you that I have wanted to contact to simply say "I'm Sorry."

Last 10 years: Attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem PA from 1998-2002.  Swam and lettered for the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 seasons.  Participated in Army ROTC all four years of college.  Graduated with a degree in History and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army in 2002.  Spent the summer with the Army at Ft. Lewis, located near Tacoma, Washington.  Spent the next 8 Months after that at Ft. Bliss, located near El Paso, Texas.  Completed Airborne School in the summer of 2003.  Went to South Korea in August 2003.  Stayed in South Korea until July 2005.  During that time I lived North of Soul as part the 2nd Infantry Division.  Returned to Ft. Bliss from August 2005 until December 2005 for training.  Arrived at Ft. Hood Texas 1 January 2006.  I was assigned to 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.  In August 2006 got married to Melinda.  1 October 2006 deployed to Iraq.  While there served on a Military Transition Team, a Police Transition Team, and as an Adviser to the Iraqi Joint Coordination Center (Iraqi Police and Army joint Headquarters).  Returned from Iraq 28 November 2007.  Departed Ft. Hood for Houston, TX in March 2008.  Took Command of the Baybrook Army Recruiting Company, located Southeast of Houston on 16 April 2008. 

Favorite high school memory: The memories I have from the Swim Team - winning Sectionals our Senior Year.

Favorite high school memory: Driving 50 miles round-trip to Schererville with friends most weekends to get the student discount at the Showplace 16 theater. Gas was cheap and it was always an adventure. I drove over 50,000 miles within the first two years that I had my license!

Child’s name and date of birth: Claire Joy Starr born July 21, 2007,after I graduated from VHS, I spent a year abroad in Germany.  I lived with a host family in Hanover, Germany, and attended a college prep school full time.  I was part of the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship program.  When I returned to the states, I started my college career at Indiana State in Terre Haute, IN, where I graduated from Magna Cum Laude.  I hold a degree in English Teaching and German Teaching.  In 2001, I married my high school sweetheart, Joshua!  We started dating the fall of our senior year.  I substitute taught in Terre Haute for 1 year.  Then I took my first teaching position at Blue River Valley near New Castle, teaching English at a 7-12 school.  However, I really wanted to teach German and be in a bigger school district.  So the following year, I took a position in Wayne Township Schools at Ben Davis High School teaching German, levels 1 and 2.  Josh and I then had our first child, Claire, in July of 2007.  I LOVE being a mom and look forward to having another child!  If you haven't tried it yet, I really recommend this whole parenthood thing.  I am into "crunchy" momma stuff like drug-free birthing, promoting breastfeeding awareness, and extended nursing.  Claire is now 15 months old, walking, and starting to talk.

Favorite high school memory: I would have to say going to post prom 1998 on the Spirit of Chicago would be my favorite HS memory.

Favorite high school memory: Are there any?  Some of the moments, which stick out from that epoch of my life, range from a Saturday afternoon during senior year where a bunch of us went to the MCA in Chicago to see a Cindy Sherman retrospective.  Oh yeah, Model U.N. (letting my geek show), and sitting on stage during April Antics pouring mustard and miracle whip into a trashcan.

Last 10 years: Went to IU and loved every minute of it! Traveled Europe, and came home and started teaching. I taught four year at Hobart Middle School in 6^th grade and now teach at Liberty Elementary School in 4^th grade. I am also the head boys’ and girls’ swim coach for Hobart High School, which is actually how I met my husband, Ryan. He coaches the Highland High School team. I am in the mist of doing my internship to be a principal as well. Any free time we have (which isn’t a whole lot), we travel (skiing in the winter, kayaking in the summer) and spend time with our friends and family.

Favorite high school memory: So many to pick from! I loved all the dances, parties, stair meetings, hanging out with friends, going to games, or just driving around. One that sticks out would be getting snowed in at Marco's with her and Bono.
